Been a busy time for us lately. The old boy and girl are doing well, both birthdays are coming up soon, one will be becoming a teenager, which is a scary thought.
We had a little cold game training session a few weeks ago. It was very interesting watching the dogs hunt. I'm not sure that there was a blade of grass the birds touched that Nyx didn't examine with intensity. The pups were a little confused about what to do with the soggy, cold, unappealing bird to begin with. Once Drake got his mouth over it a little lightbulb lit up, and he came back wagging his whole body with pride and just sat next to me against my leg, getting some fuss as he just held it nicely. Such a sweet soul.
We have attended a few shows since my last update too. First was Liskeard and District Open show, this was my first experience showing both puppies on my own and it proved to be hard work. Their classes were one after the other and the rushing around and rushing the pups around made it more stressful and nerve racking than usual. Drake showed reasonably well, Nyx was like a little jack in the box by the time I got back to her and came back into the ring quickly! But she did at least stand nicely for her critique!
Next was Paignton Championship show, both pups behaved really nicely. It's my local so least stressful for me! But it was lovely to catch up with Rookie's breeder and doggie family who were down at the show for a few days too. Brilliant to see Rookie's beautiful mum, Maddie. Not looking her age at all, she's so gorgeous.

Bournemouth Champ Show was next and the judge was very complimentary of Drake, he was a little hot and bored hanging around but showed reasonably well to take 1st in his class (the only entrant) and then Reserve Best Dog and Best Puppy in Breed.
Rookie bear is looking scrummy for a boy with absolutely no coat right now. Love this boy so much, he is so good with the pups; so patient and playful. Absolutely adore him. He is so ready for the shooting season to start up again!

The work continues to send Nyx to her new home, next thing is that she needs her rabies blood test. Very slow going but I'm hopeful it'll all be worth it in the long run! She is so full of character just like her dad. I'll miss her terribly.
